Primark has opened its first-ever store in the Czech Republic, solidifying its Central European ambitions. The Irish budget fashion chain enters its fourteenth market and now has 396 outlets.
Expansion into Central and Eastern Europe
The store on Prague’s famous Wenceslas Square has three floors with a total retail area of 4,600 sq m. More than 300 jobs have been created, writes Retail Gazette. “We are so excited to finally bring Primark to the Czech Republic and what better place to do this than in the heart of Prague,” said CEO Paul Marchant. “This is another important market for us as we continue our expansion into Central and Eastern Europe and build our pipeline of new stores across the region.”
Primark’s Central and Eastern European expansion began with a store in Slovenia (Ljubljana) and two in Poland (Warsaw and Poznan). There are also concrete plans for the first store in Slovakia, two more in Poland (Krakow and Katowice) and a second Czech store in Brno.
