Belgian fashion designer Raf Simons will become American fashion label Calvin Klein‘s new creative director, tasked with a thorough update for the brand. Previously, Simons worked for Dior.
Will lead every collection
Simons will succeed Francisco Costa and Italo Zucchelli, who took charge of the men’s collection and the women’s collection respectively. Both designers were fired in April and Calvin Klein already said back then it was looking for a single person to lead both collections.
That person turned out to be Raf Simons, whose first job will be the development of the CK Jeans collection, while he also has to restructure Calvin Klein’s fashion shows.
It is not entirely surprising Raf Simons was picked. He left French Dior in October 2015 after a three-year stint and managed to rejuvenate the brand and make it successful again. However, he left because the pressure became too intense.
