It is over and out for Scotch & Soda in Germany: the fashion brand cannot find a buyer there and is therefore closing all its stores at the end of August. Nearly 40 shops and 290 employees are affected.
No relaunch
There will be no restart for Scotch & Soda in Germany after all, following the bankruptcy of European parent company S&S Europe in June. On Tuesday, employees were told that no buyer was found. All shops will close at the end of August, except for about five branches that will hold a clearance sale, Textilwirtschaft reported. However, talks are said to be ongoing with another fashion chain that wants to take over some of the premises and employees.
The fashion retailer could not find a buyer in the Netherlands either. In Austria, the brand did find a local partner for a relaunch. In Belgium, fashion agency GAB is taking over nine shops: the first branches have already reopened their doors. Last year, GAB also took over the French activities of Scotch & Soda.
