Polyvore, a well-known American social media network and fashion inspirational platform, has been shut down as soon as e-commerce group Ssense acquired it. The users are dismayed and immediately launched a petition.

American online luxury retailer Ssense announced last week that it would acquire fashion network Polyvore from telecom company Verizon’s subsidiary. Immediately after the announcement , it pulled the plug on Polyvore’s app and website, used by fashionistas as a social media channel and as a platform for inspiration boards.
Until 15 May, users can still download their digital boards on Polyvore, but afterwards, the network will merge into Ssense. Its website already diverts to Ssense and if users do not choose to opt out, their profile will automatically transfer to the e-commerce platform.
#BringBackPolyvore
That is the way it will be if angry users do not manage to prevent it. Currently, the hashtag #BringBackPolyvore showcases angry reactions in social media. Members have also launched a petition to request the return of the social media network. Fashionistas, who consider themselves members of the “Polyfam” family, often use the network to communicate with others and have also placed their wish lists on it.
Polyvore, launched eleven years ago, said in a press release that Ssense was the “right community” according to them and that it was inspired by the buyer’s dedication to offer a leading mix of the world’s most coveted brands.
