Uterqüe, a subsidiary of Spanish fashion group Inditex, has started its own shop on Chinese e-commerce platform Tmall. The accessory and fashion label also wants to open physical stores in China later on.
All Inditex chains now in China
Uterqüe is the last subsidiary of the Inditex group to open its own environment on Alibaba‘s platform, which mostly sells Western brands. As in Uterqüe’s own webshops and physical stores, Tmall will offer new products every two weeks.
This is Uterqüe’s first step on the Chinese market, but not the last: Tmall has been a stepping-stone to test the Chinese market for many brands. In the future, Uterqüe wants to open physical stores in China as well: “In view of the rapid growth of the market for high-end products on Tmall, more and more premium fashion brands from Europe and North America are joining the platform. They even open a shop on Tmall before starting physical shops,” explains Anita Lyu, vice president of Tmall Fashion. The other Inditex chains, from Berschka to Zara, have been present on Tmall for some time already.
