Shoe chain vanHaren wants to invest a lot in its Belgian expansion in the next few years. It opened its first five stores in 2017 and will open another eleven this year. Wallonia is also part of its expansion plan.
To Wallonia in 2019
The new stores in Belgium will all be located in Flanders, but it will also focus on Wallonia in 2019. VanHaren says it wants to conquer Belgium in the next few years, according to the FD.
The statements came from its annual results presentation. The Dutch shoe store chain, part of German Deichmann, generated a 190.2 million euro turnover in 2017, which was a 6.3 % increase. It sold 6.9 million pairs of shoes, a small 0.6 % increase.
It will also expand in the Netherlands, with three new stores and an expansion for another eight locations. The chain had 143 stores in 2017 and employed 1,467 people.
Deichmann, vanHaren’s parent company and Europe’s largest shoe retailer, grew nearly 6 % to 5.8 billion euro in turnover. There was also a 2.8 % like-for-like turnover increase. The company has nearly 4,000 stores worldwide, 36 web shops and about 40,000 employees. It is not only active in 25 European countries, but also in the United States. Sneaker chain Snipes is also part of the group.
