Yoox Net-a-Porter will no longer sell fur products on any of its platforms. Animal rights organization Fur Free Alliance will now place the company on its Fur Free Retailer list.
List gets longer
Yoox Net-a-Porter has been actively reducing its fur purchase for its Net-a-Porter, Yoox and The Outnet web shops and has also implemented several systems to make sure fur is no longer acquired.
“We have a strong sense of responsibility and recognize the importance of making a positive contribution to society. With a range of initiatives, partnerships and innovations, our goal is to act as an industry-wide catalyst for change”, head of sustainability at Yoox Net-a-Porter, Matteo James Moroni, said.
The company has now joined companies like Hugo Boss, Armani, Zara and de Bijenkorf, which had already decided to ban fur. “It is a good development that an increasing number of companies in the higher echelons of the market have taken their responsibility. Fur has lost its allure as a status symbol”, Nicole van Gemert (CEO at Bont voor Dieren – Fur for Animals, the Dutch representative for Fur Free Alliance).
