German e-tailer Zalando has decided to expand its management board with a Chief Financial Officer and a Chief Technology Officer. At the same time, it will redefine the job descriptions for its three co-CEOs.
Three become five
Until 31 March Zalando’s management board only consists of three co-CEOs, but from 1 April a CFO and a CTO will join them. David Schröder has been working for Zalando in developing its operations for the last nine years, and will now get responsability over finances and operations as the new CFO. Jim Freeman has just started his last month as Senior Vice President Engineering, a role he will have executed for only a year after joining from Amazon, where he was responsible for launching devices like Alexa and Echo.
The job description of the three co-CEOs will also be redefined: Rubin Ritter (on the left in the picture) will be responsible for strategy, David Schneider (middle) will lead Zalando’s fashion offer and be dealing with brand partners – a new focus for the German company – and Robert Gentz (on the right) keeps human resources but will also take on board marketing and sales. “The revised set-up tightens the focus of each member and secures a well-rounded view of the Zalando business on the Management Board”, says Lothar Lanz, chairman of the supervisory board.
Zalando announced the expansion of its management board in a press release in which it also disclosed its financial results. With a strong finish (a 25 % turnover rise in the fourth quarter) the company lifted its full year turnover to 5.4 billion euros.
