Zalando brings together eight international brands in a “more sustainable” capsule collection, consisting of 116 garments for the autumn season, as much as possible with environmentally friendly materials, such as organic cotton and lyocell.
Collaboration between brands
On the Zalando shopping platform, shoppers can now also find an exclusive capsule collection with 116 items specially designed for the online retailer. Eight European labels responded to the call to create a collection with an emphasis on sustainably certified materials. These included organic cotton, soft lyocell and environmentally friendly triacetate.
The collection is designed for the mid-season and has mainly autumn shades. The participating brands are Closed, Designer’s Remix, Henrik Vibskov, Holzweiler, House of Dagmar, Mother of Pearl, Mykke Hofmann and Progetto Quid from Scandinavia, Germany, the United Kingdom and Italy. Zalando believes that by allowing the brands to work together, new steps will be taken towards a more sustainable fashion industry.
Advancing the industry
The online retailer recognises that the clothing industry contributes greatly to environmental problems and has had its own sustainability mission since last year: in the long term, the platform aims to have a “net positive impact on people and the environment”. “And we continue to play our role in the fashion industry to help the industry move forward in this area”, the company says.
It is already the second capsule collection for Zalando: in January 2020, a first collaboration started under the name “Small steps. Big impact. By Zalando”. The online platform then challenged designers, as it does today, to create a “more sustainable” collection.
