German online fashion platform Zalando wants to use ChatGPT to help customers. The company is setting up a test with a limited selection of customers.
New way to discover
The idea is that customers can ask questions in an intuitive way, such as “What can I wear to a wedding in Santorini in July?”, from which the shopping assistant should understand that it is for a formal, summer occasion and make a number of suitable suggestions. Zalando also wants to integrate customers’ personal tastes and preferences, distilled from previous purchases.
The test version of the AI shopping assistant will be available in the app and on the website, for a limited number of Austrian, British, German and Irish customers.
“We are eager to explore the potential that ChatGPT can bring to their shopping journey. As we continue testing and introducing new solutions, our focus remains on learning how our customers want to interact with our fashion assistant to provide them with the best possible experience,” said Tian Su, VP Personalisation and Recommendation at Zalando.
