The fact that the coronavirus crisis has given Ahold Delhaize a serious boost was already evident. The annual report now reveals that the group’s top management benefited as well.
6 million euros
CEO Frans Muller saw his income increase by 1.6 million euros to 6.024 million euros last year, writes Business AM. Besides a basic salary of 1.102 million euros, he received various bonuses, part of which was in cash and part in shares or pension. Kevin Holt, the head of Ahold Delhaize USA, also received over one and a half million euros more than in 2019, worth a total compensation of 5.27 million euros.
As previously reported, driven by the coronavirus crisis, Ahold Delhaize’s sales grew by 14.2 per cent to 74.4 billion euros last year. Online sales increased by 67.4 per cent (at constant exchange rates) to 7.6 billion euros. However, due to higher costs, operating profit was significantly lower compared to 2019.
