Ahold Delhaize struck a deal with its Czech employees regarding a wage increase. The supermarket chain faced a lot of criticism, because its local wages were lower than the competition.
8.5% wage increase
Even the Czech Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka said the wages had to be increase, which prompted Ahold Delhaize to say it had already entered negotiations.
Ahold Delhaize’s employees, who work for the Czech supermarket chain Albert, will now get an average 8.5 % wage increase and its Christmas bonus gets tripled to 37 euro. Albert’s 330 stores employ about 15,000 people. The labour unions are happy with the new deal, while Sobotka said on Twitter the Albert wage increase is a good deal.
