Food retailers and their suppliers face immense challenges, says Carrefour CEO Alexandre Bompard. This is precisely why the retailer has made the “food transition for all” its raison d’être.
“Excellent introduction”
We had the book The Future of Food – A new recipe for the food sector read in advance by several personalities from the European FMCG and food retail sector. We were particularly honoured that Alexandre Bompard, Chairman and CEO of Carrefour Group, also took the time to comment.
“Jorg Snoeck and Stefan Van Rompaey explore all the angles of the complex equation that the players in the food chain are now confronted with: how can we combine higher quality, respect for the environment and attractive prices all while investing massively in new distribution channels – particularly digital. This is what makes our job as retailers so difficult and noble, and why Carrefour made the ‘food transition for all’ its raison d’être. On its journey the challenges are as immense as they are exciting, and this book serves as a superb introduction.”
Second edition
Other top managers from the food sector have also praised the book, which has now reached its second printing. Frans Muller, CEO of Ahold Delhaize, wrote an afterword. We also received reactions from, among others, Jef Colruyt (Colruyt Group), Koen Slippens (Sligro), Nils van Dam (Milcobel) and Wim Destoop (PepsiCo).
The book is available in the better bookstores and webshops, in Dutch and English, also as an e-book. For deliveries of larger quantities in Belgium, you can order via this link. Dutch readers can contact publisher Van Duuren Management and managementboek.nl.
