American online giant Amazon revealed its AmazonFresh Pickup formula in Seattle. Amazon Prime members can use these pick-up stores to get their online grocery orders.
Order ready in fifteen minutes
Amazon already has two pick-up stores in Seattle, but these can only be accessed by a selected group of the company’s employees.
AmazonFresh Pickup does not require customers to leave their vehicle to shop for groceries. The first step happens online, in Amazon’s virtual supermarket, and customers can choose a time to pick up their delivery, as soon as fifteen minutes after the order. However, this option is only available to Amazon Fresh customers.
In the meantime, orders are processed at one of the pick-up locations and an Amazon employee will bring the groceries to your car. Seeing how the payment was already taken care of online, the entire offline process only takes a fraction of time. There is no minimum amount, meaning customers could basically just order one particular item.
It still remains to be seen when Amazon opens its pick-up locations to the general public and how many locations it will have across the country.
Amazon Go problems
AmazonFresh Pickup may have officially launched, its cash register-free supermarket Amazon Go’s launch has been delayed because of technological issues. Normally, the first Amazon Go store should have opened before the end of the month, but it has now been postponed indefinitely.
Apparently, more than twenty customers in an Amazon Go store would create problems and if a customer does not place an item in its designated spot, the system has problems detecting the product’s actual location. Amazon is now investigating how it can fix these two issues.
