Unexpected
Ploos van Amstel had only been appointed CEO in November 2013, after previous positions at Levi Strauss & Co (financial director) and P&G. C&A released a statement saying his departure was unexpected, but the company wished to thank him for his endeavors.
C&A, founded in 1841, currently has more than 1,500 European stores and additional stores in Brazil, China and Mexico. Nearly 40,000 people work for the store chain which is owned by the Dutch Brenninkmeijer family’s Cofra Holding. .
