Carrefour is entering into a cooperation with the Scandinavian purchasing group Coop Nordics. Carrefour’s private labels will get distributed in the 4,500 supermarkets of Coop.
27 billion euros
Carrefour and Coop Nordics have entered into a commercial agreement for the purchase of private label products: the Scandinavian purchasing group will purchase both food and non-food products, including textiles, from the French company Carrefour. In addition to French private labels, the Scandinavians will also get access to Spanish and Italian food private labels.
The assortment reaches four new markets in one: Coop is active in Finland, Denmark, Norway and Sweden. “We are convinced that Coop Nordics will be a very good ambassador for Carrefour in the Nordic countries for our brands in the food and non-food categories,” said Patrick Lasfargues, executive director of Carrefour Partenariat International, in a press statement.
The new partner is no small player: the cooperative represents a turnover of more than 27 billion euros and is one of the leading retailers in the Nordic countries. Together, the various divisions have a market share of 33 per cent and more than 4,500 stores.
