French supermarket company Carrefour has displayed several innovations, focused on time-saving services, it will implement in France soon.
Own meal box
The first idea is “Panier Cuistot” by Ooshop, its very own 20 euro meal box, containing two to four recipes, that will be delivered at home. The recipes can be chosen from a list of about a dozen, changed every week. Once ordered, it will be delivered within 24 hours in and around Paris, but for a 2.9 euro fee. The first trial was in January 2016 on Ooshop’s web shop and this is an expansion of that particular service.
Pikit
Another innovation is Pikit, which scans barcodes and immediately adds the item to a customer’s online shopping cart. It was revealed in December 2015, but it will get new functions in this newest version, like the ability to automatically add items after a fixed, user-triggered period. The device’s voice function has also improved and in general, its usability should have increased. Pikit will also suggest other products when the desired product is not available at Carrefour.
Counter to Amazon Prime
Livraison Express is Carrefour’s counter to Amazon Prime. It launched the service in October 2016, but now expands it to more than 3,000 products. As soon as an order is processed, the customer can choose a 30-minute slot for the delivery, which can be one hour after the order if so desired. Orders can be placed day and night, but shipments will only take place between 09h and 22h. French start-up Stuart, a bike home delivery service, will handle the home deliveries.
For the time being, Livraison Express will only be available in Paris, Neuilly, Levallois, Malakoff, Vanves and Bagnolet. From May 2017 onward, Lyon will be added and an app will also be published, so that customers can track their orders in real-time.
