Brian Smith, Chief Operations Officer and president of The Coca-Cola Company, is retiring after 25 years of service. While a new president has already been appointed, the soft drinks producer is not appointing a new COO.
No operational solution
Coca-Cola’s new president is John Murphy, since 2019 the company’s CFO. He will retain his role as financial director as well as succeed Smith as president.
However, for Smith’s other role, the company has not yet found a solution. Rather than anxiously looking for a new COO, Coca-Cola is now planning to evaluate its future plans for the position. For now, and perhaps indefinitely, the head of the different operational units will report directly to the CEO.
