While Colruyt is the undisputed number one on its Belgian home market, the retailer is only a modest player in France with 100 stores and 716 million euros in annual sales. However, turnover and shop area have been growing.
9.5% revenue growth
At the end of 2023, Colruyt had 100 shops in France, totalling a retail area of 97,000 sqm. This means that the average French store is on smaller than its Belgian counterpart. Last year, the retailer opened five new shops in France, as a result of which the total retail floor space grew by 5.4 %. Revenue grew by 9.5 % to 716 million euros.
