After acquiring cracker producer Yuma, cricket snack producer Kriket now aims to launch in the United Kingdom, Germany and Spain.

Crickets everywhere

Together, Kriket and Yuma are aiming for one million euros in sales by 2025. With Belgian retailer Colruyt Group as a shareholder, Kriket’s cricket flour granolas and cereal bars are already available at market leader Colruyt, while Yuma’s cricket flour crackers are available at Delhaize.

“Thanks to the acquisition, Kriket can expand its product range and increases its distribution network to almost 2,000 points of sale at home and abroad,” Bruzz quoted the announcement. Together, the two companies plan to go for “deeper market penetration” and international launches in Spain, Germany and the UK are already planned.

Crickets “consume 2,000 times less water than beef, and emit 100 times less CO2 for the same amount of protein”, making them a more sustainable protein alternative, the company says.
