Delhaize and meal supplier Tastyoo are expanding their existing cooperation. At the Delhaize branch in Roodebeek, both partners are launching their very first hot takeaway service.
Pilot project
Starting today, at the Delhaize supermarket in Roodebeek, customers can buy hot or cold dishes at the new hot food counter. The counter is located at the entrance to the store, ensuring a smooth service. This pilot project will run for six months. If successful, the concept will later be rolled out in other Belgian stores of the retailer.
“With this innovation, Delhaize wants to respond to customers’ current needs in an urban environment. With this new concept, we want to serve those customers looking for ultra-fresh, flexible and convenient meal solutions”, says CEO Xavier Piesvaux.
For the time being, the meals can only be bought and collected on-site. But soon, it will also be possible to order and pay online. The customer will then be able to choose between collection or home delivery.
Pizza and rescue soup
The assortment of the new service includes pizza, prepared Tastyoo meals, different kinds of pasta and so-called ‘rescue soup’, made from vegetables that are no longer saleable but still consumable.
Delhaize has been a major shareholder of Tastyoo for some time. About a year ago, both partners launched a meal delivery service in the region of Brussels. Some of the Tastyoo dishes can also be found in some Delhaize branches.
