Monoprix, the urban store banner of French retail group Casino, has ambitious plans for expansion throughout Europe. The retailer aims to double its turnover in ten years time.
Looking for franchise partners
Within the Casino group, Monoprix is the store banner that concentrates on city supermarkets and convenience stores. Recently, the retailer opened a 5,000 square metre flagship store of the latest generation in the centre of Paris. Monoprix Montparnasse is a trendy supermarket that combines the latest technology – including a new type of connected shopping trolley – with a focus on traditional French craftsmanship in fresh food.
The chain today has around 800 stores in France with the store banners Monoprix (supermarkets), monop’ (small convenience stores) and Naturalia (organic stores). Today, the retailer is announcing major expansion plans: the aim is to double turnover to 10 billion euros within 10 years. To achieve this goal, Monoprix intends to roll out its retail formulas internationally, particularly in Scandinavia, Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, Portugal and Spain. To this end, Monoprix will focus on franchise partnerships with local investors who share Monoprix’ values, according to a press release.
