Chocolate manufacturer Ferrero has achieved an annual turnover growth of 10 % to 14 billion euros, thanks to its flagship brands Nutella, Ferrero Rocher and Kinder Bueno.
Strong brands
The results for the 2021-2022 broken financial year, which ended on 31 August, show that the food giant posted a sales growth of 12.7 to 14 billion euros. The group does not disclose profit figures, but does state that it invested 830 million euros in its brands, in research and development and in production capacity.
To what extent the salmonella contamination in Ferrero’s Belgian factory in Arlon had an impact on its figures is not clear. In April last year, the manufacturer had to close its plant and issue a large-scale recall of potentially contaminated products. Only in June could the production unit conditionally reopen. The clean-up work alone cost Ferrero at least half a million euros.
