German Fritz-kola will start bottling outside of Germany for the first time early next year. A partnership with Belgian Konings should clear the path for further international expansion.
Lower emissions
The new bottler, Konings Juices and Drinks, is based in Borgloon, near the point where Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands meet. This strategic location should allow the company to further strengthen its presence in the Low Countries, while significantly reducing its carbon footprint through shorter transport routes.
Customers in the West of Germany will also benefit from the new bottling plant: “It offers our customers in Western Germany shorter pick-up routes and thus lower carbon emissions. A customer from Cologne, for example, will save around 200 kilos of CO2 per round trip”, managing director Florian Weins says.
The bottling plant in Borgloon should lay the foundation for further international expansion, the company hopes. Future steps to expand the network in Europe are already planned. Today, fritz-kola has a network of five bottling plants in Germany (Bamberg, Eilenburg, Güstrow, Sersheim and Wagenfeld) and a logistics centre in Unterschleißheim.
