Among the interested parties is also the Gerbi family, the former owners of the brand. Investment funds Naxicap, KKR and Chenavari have also shown an interest in an acquisition.
Gérard Darel currently employs some 800 people in France and if there are no bids, everyone will keep their job. If one of the bids is accepted, the new owner will slash jobs, keeping 400 to 626 people employed.
Investment fund Advent paid some 300 million euro for the clothing brand in 2008. Gérard Darel currently has some 300 stores and half of those are in France. On a global basis, the company employs 1,100 people and it generates a yearly turnover of 200 million euro.
