Secretary-general Geoffroy Gersdorff has left Carrefour Belgium to take up a new position at the global headquarters of the retailer in Massy (near Paris). He becomes director of goods and purchasing food, with immediate effect.
Strategic function
“This is an important promotion to a strategic position”, a delighted Gersdorff told our editor on the phone. “My mission is to translate our raison d’être, the food transition, into our product range. After two years as Secretary-General and now that the transformation plan is fully in place, I consider this the right time to take a new step. It is a wonderful opportunity to also show the savoir-faire of Carrefour Belgium in Paris.”
Gersdorff will take charge of Carrefour’s private label, the fresh products with the Carrefour Quality Chain and Socomo, the group’s purchasing center for fresh products. With the departure of Gersdorff, the position of Secretary-General at the Belgian branch also disappears: CEO François-Melchior de Polignac, who has been back in Evere since December, knows the Belgian market and the company thoroughly and takes over all of Gersdorff’s responsibilities.
