“Decision with PAI”
“We are still in the strategic process launched at the start of the year under the supervision of business bank JP Morgan”, CEO Philip Mountford told Het Financieele Dagblad. “We have not concluded a sale yet, as that decision lies with PAI and they will have to decide whether to sell or not.”
Earlier rumours said that Sycamore would pay 440 million euro for Hunkemöller, but Mountford now denies that claim. He says talks are ongoing with three different parties, although he refused to identify the three.
He decided to divulge the information to clear the air surrounding the situation, which has also confused a lot of employees. “We have 4,500 people working here and they are getting confused. We are very transparent internally, but they are now reading something entirely different in the papers as to what they have heard from us.”
