Difficult time in the past
Two years ago Galliano was fired on the spot by his employer Dior. This happened after he had berated a Jewish woman when drunk and at the same time had justified the actions of Adolf Hitler. Now Galliano is working on his rehabilitation and blames his rant on alcohol and medicine abuse.
In January Galliano worked for de la Renta temporarily during a fashion week, which convinced the latter to ask the designer to start working for him on a permanent basis – probably because the show of the Dominican fashion king had been a big hit, with the help of Galliano.
“I strongly feel, regardless of what he did, that everyone in life does deserve a second chance, and I am happy that I was able to give John a second chance.…It would be a shame if the industry was deprived of such a talent”, said de la Renta.
