One in four head office jobs is disappearing at Dutch food retailer Jumbo. The company is cutting costs and introducing a more efficient way of working.
“Faster decision-making”
The impact of the headquarters reorganization already announced by Jumbo earlier is now clear: 500 of the current 1,400 jobs are being cut, reports the retailer. On the other hand, there are 150 vacancies for positions that fit the new organization. In net terms, this means a reorganization of one in four jobs, 350 in total. At the same time, Jumbo is introducing a new way of working with a focus on “effective collaboration and fast decision-making with full focus on stores and customer.”
“We believe in this development and are convinced that it will make a major contribution to our initiated course of ‘Jumbo as Jumbo is meant to be’. But as important as this step is, it is not easy and certainly not when it also affects the jobs of colleagues,” said CEO Ton van Veen.
