Dutch supermarket chain Jumbo is ending its partnership with Getir, the quick commerce company that acquired Gorillas at the end of last year. The supermarket chain wants to focus on its own channels.
“Logical moment”
Jumbo had been working with Gorillas in the Netherlands since January 2022 (and also very briefly in Belgium) but following Getir’s acquisition of Gorillas in December last year, Gorillas’ city stores will now be supplied from Getir’s distribution centre in Alblasserdam and thus no longer by Jumbo.
For Jumbo, it is a logical moment to end the cooperation between the two companies, CEO Ton van Veen says: “We are now working to reduce complexity in the business and concentrate on surprising our customers every day in our more than 700 stores, via Jumbo.com and via the Jumbo app.”
