Dutch meal delivery company Just Eat Takeaway is joining forces with Turkish quick commerce pioneer Getir: German customers will be the first to be able to order Getir products from their local JET subsidiary Lieferando. An expansion to France, Italy, Spain and the United Kingdom is already in the making.
“Win-win”
Getir will make its whole product range of some 2,000 references available from Just Eat Takeaway’s marketplaces, and will deliver these orders by its own couriers. The partnership will be first implemented in Germany, other European countries will follow in the coming weeks.
This partnership will allow JET’s customers to order their meals and groceries through the same platform. It is a win-win situation: Just Eat Takeaway (already Europe’s biggest meal delivery platform) will increase its product range; Getir (Europe’s biggest flash delivery company) will increase its market reach accordingly.
The Turkish company is also still in acquisition talks with its German competitor Gorillas. As it is increasingly difficult for companies in the quick commerce sector to find enough funds to keep afloat and expand, they need to start cutting costs. It is therefore logical that the sector will know its fair share of consolidation.
