Just Eat Takeaway is increasingly focusing on the United Kingdom and Ireland, as order numbers are decreasing elsewhere. The meal delivery company is even pulling the plug on New Zealand.
Fewer orders
CEO Jitse Groen claims the year started well, in particular because of accelerated expansion in the UK and Ireland and “continued momentum in Northern Europe”. However, the meal delivery company saw a 6 % drop in orders to 214 million. The drop was ‘just’ 3 % excluding North America, where the group has long wanted to leave. Gross transaction value fell 2 % to 6.55 billion euros, although it actually rose 3 % excluding North America.
Just Eat Takeaway will cease all operations in New Zealand in the coming weeks. Other than that, the meal delivery company continues to target 2 to 6 % growth in gross transaction value for 2024, again excluding North America. Adjusted EBITDA would be around 450 million euros this year.
