Meal delivery company Just Eat Takeaway.com continues to accelerate its growth: in the first three months of this financial year, the number of orders rose by 79 %.
Fuelling growth
For the fourth quarter in a row, Just Eat Takeaway.com realised an acceleration in growth: The company received 200 million orders in its latest quarter, compared to 112 million in the same period last year. The strongest progress was made in the United Kingdom, where the number of orders almost doubled to 63.8 million. The meal delivery company also did well in Canada (+ 96 %), Germany (+ 77 %) and the Netherlands (+ 53 %). As for the division “rest of the world”, which includes Belgium, a growth of 64 % was recorded.
CEO Jitse Groen does not provide a concrete forecast for the whole year, but has announced that he will continue to invest heavily in growth: increasing the market share will take priority over profitability. Within that mindset, the company already concluded a new deal in March with the European Football Association UEFA: Just Eat Takeaway will support twelve European leagues, including the Champions League.
Furthermore, the meal delivery company hopes to complete the takeover of the American company Grubhub in the first half of this year. This deal involves an investment of 7.3 billion dollars (more than six billion euros).
