Lidl is using an autonomous electric truck without a cab in Germany to deliver supplies to a store. The truck operates without a driver or safety operator on board and was the first of its kind to receive a permit from the German transportation authority.
Operator follows (for now)
The autonomous truck operates between Lidl’s distribution center in Edermünde, near Kassel, and a nearby store. The vehicle operates within a defined area and can drive completely autonomously under specified conditions.
