In a funny parody, French Monoprix has spoofed Amazon Go‘s recent launch video. The French urban shopping chain uses the parody to promote its own home delivery service, which has been around for ten years.
Home delivery
For the past decade, Monoprix (part of the Casino group) has allowed customers to leave the store without paying, it claimed in its own promotional video. “Over ten years ago, we were wondering, what would shopping look like…” the commentary voice, with a deliberately heavy French accent, said. The video’s entire atmosphere and style mimics the famous Amazon Go announcement on 5 December.
In the clip, Monoprix talks about how its “Livraison à domicile +” (home delivery +) works: shoppers can leave their groceries at the cash register and the retailer will then deliver them at home two to three hours later (or at a chosen time). Only then does the consumer have to pay. The service is free for pregnant women and people with decreased mobility. In short, the store without lines has already been around for ten years, it states. In any case, do enjoy the many humourous Amazon Go references in this parody.
