French supermarket group Carrefour appointed a new CFO after Pierre-Jean Sivignon decided to leave the company for personal reasons. His replacement comes from Fnac Darty: Matthieu Malige.
Old duo reunited
Current Carrefour CEO, Alexandre Bompard, knows Malige very well, seeing how he was Fnac Darty CEO recently. Under his leadership, Malige was Fnac Darty’s CFO and will now occupy the same position at Carrefour.
He also knows the company very well: he used to work for Carrefour between 2003 and 2011 as CFO for Carrefour Belgium and Carrefour France. The Bompard – Malige combination managed to get Fnac back on track several years ago and will now be expected to do the same for Carrefour, a company that is facing the same obstacles as Fnac was.
Bompard wants to launch a major transformation plan this year, which will include Sunday openings for every hypermarket.
