Belgian sandwich chain Panos has opened its 100th ‘City’ store in the Walloon city of Namur. It is only the fifth such store in Wallonia, but the chain has expressed its intentions of a rapid expansion in Belgium’s southern region.
Walloon expansion
The new store is located in Namur’s main shopping street Rue de Fer, near the city’s railway station. Two caterers, Patrick De Craecker and Emmanuel Pierrard, will run the store and employ three more people. Most Panos City stores are in the hands of franchisers, allowing the chain to expand faster.
This is the 100th store of the City concept, with which Panos focuses on city centres and shopping centres, but for the Walloon region it is only the fifth opening (after Louvain-la-Neuve, Messancy, Mons and Mouscron). The chain however hopes for a rapid expansion in the region: “We aim to invest heavily in more stores in Wallonia”, managing director Karl Selleslags explains in a press release.
