From zero to five stores within a year
Primark’s first French store will be opened in Marseille right before Christmas. By the summer of 2014, the chain
intends to have five stores, with the second one opening in February 2014 in
Dijon, followed by three stores in shopping centres in and
around Paris.
These five stores are not the end of the Irish plans: French real estate
developer Klépierre has recently announced it will build a new 7,400 m² Primark in 2016 in the future extension of the Val
d’Europe shopping centre, east of Paris. The same real estate developer is also
the driving force behind four of the five other shopping centres that will house Primarks.
The chain’s arrival is not only good news for its French fans, but also
benefits local employment opportunities as Primark seeks to employ 1,400 people. The
Irish fashion group currently has more
than 250 stores in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Spain, Portugal, Germany,
the Netherlands, Belgium and Austria.
