No successor yet
Raf Simons’ Dior collection, which will be presented in Paris on 2 October, will be his last. “After long and careful consideration, I have decided to relinquish my position as artistic director at Dior”, Simons said in a press release.
“My decision is entirely based on my desire to focus on other fields of interests in my life, including my own brand and the passions that stimulate me outside of work. Christian Dior is a fantastic company and it has been an incredible privilege to write several pages in this magnificent book”, he said.
Raf Simons succeeded John Galliano in April 2012, who was fired after several antisemitic comments. Simons’ Dior collections have always garnered positive praise and also sold well, which is shown in the fashion house’s turnover from last year: it grew from 3.9 billion euro to 6.2 billion euro. Dior has not yet appointed a successor.
