Civil engineer
Redding graduated as a civil engineer, but decided to design a sweater collection based on the Scottish area around the Scapa Flow Bay in 1967. His wife’s boutique, in the Belgian coastal town Knokke, was the first store to sell these sweaters.
Demand quickly grew and subsequently, entire collections for men, women and children were launched. Right now, Scapa’s collections are on sale all across the world.
Brian Redding spent the majority of his final years in Italy and Sri Lanka, which is also where he passed away on 23 February.
