Belgian water producer Spadel has sold its British division to David Stockley, the current finance and administration manager of the company. The 32 employees at Brecon Carreg will be able to keep their jobs.

Brecon Carreg, in Belgian hands since 1983, produced 47.5 million litres of water last year and has a market share of 19 %. However, Spadel has now decided to focus on the markets where the group has a stronger position: the Benelux, Bulgaria and France.
In a press release, CEO Marc du Bois calls it a “difficult decision” because the company was part of Spadel for so long and has been a great success story. In recent years, the group has made “considerable” investments in the British water brand, but now says that the growth achieved was insufficient and that in order to make Brecon Carreg as big as the three markets of the Spadel group mentioned above, even more “significant investments” would be required – investments that the group can not or does not want to do any more.
