Asics combines sports with fashion
Over the past few years, Asics’s product range was split into its Asics SportStyle and Onitsuka Tiger collections. The former focused on the shoe’s functionality and the collection was geared toward top-notch athletes through sport stores and the latter was geared towards the fashionable athlete who wants a beautiful and comfortable sporting shoe.
Asics Tiger is the company’s attempt to create a hybrid between both collections and the legendary Tiger name should help despite the fact that the brand faded away in the 90’s.
Strong year
The first step is to launch 30 shoes with the Gel-Lyte III sneaker as one of its most important products. The Gel-Lyte III is a running shoe with a thick sole, which is being relaunched in new colours and materials. Next up are clothing and accessories, which will also carry the Tiger brand name.
In its fiscal year 2014 – which ended on 31 March 2014 – Asics managed a 329.465 billion yen (or some 2.47 billion euro when considering current exchange rates) turnover, 26.6 % more than the year before.
