Takeaway.com, which owns Thuisbezorgd.nl and former Pizza.be, processed another 30 % increase in orders during 2018’s first quarter. It also achieved strong growth in the highly competitive German market.
Strong first quarter
Dutch Takeaway revealed excellent results for its first quarter of 2018: a 31 % increase in orders compared to 2017’s fourth quarter helped it achieve growth in every market. The Netherlands, its home territory, performed the weakest: there was ‘only’ a 23 % increase in home deliveries.
Its most important growth was in the German market, where it has to compete against formidable opponents like Lieferheld and Pizza.de, both owned by Delivery Hero. “The increase of our overall number of orders is largely thanks to our improved position in the German market”, Takeaway CEO Jitse Groen said. “We have done very well here, with a 32 % increase compared to last year’s fourth quarter.
The company did not reveal any Belgian results, but merely indicated it to be one of the “other” markets where it is the dominant force (40 % increase in orders) and has achieved tremendous growth. The online meal delivery service is now active in ten countries, including Bulgaria and Romania. In 2017, it processed orders worth 1,3 billion euro, which generated a 166 million euro revenue.
