31 million orders
Takeaway.com received 31.1 million orders in the first quarter of this year: 51% more than a year ago. On a comparable basis – i.e. not counting the new market of Israel – growth came to a 27% increase in orders.
On the domestic market of the Netherlands, the company delivered 8,982 orders, compared to 7,665 the year before. That comes to a growth of 17% in the Netherlands. In Germany, they went from 7,518 orders to 9,816, which comes down to a 31% increase.
Critical moment in Germany
The company is currently focused particularly on the German market, stated CEO Jitse Groen in a press release: “The continued growth of Takeaway.com comes at a critical moment for our company. The acquisition of Delivery Hero in Germany will keep enlarging our scale and accelerate our steps towards profitability.”
In accordance with the “one company, one brand, one IT platform” strategy of the delivery service, Pizza.de migrated to the Takeaway.com platform two days ago. Groen expects they will soon be able to migrate the other two websites. “We’re looking forward to a smooth further integration of the activities and welcome our new employees in Germany”, he stated.
