Too Good to Go, a Danish app that fights food waste, can now call itself a “Certified B Corporation”. The Danish company is also expanding to the United States, taking its first steps outside Europe.
Heavy procedure
To join the exclusive group of B Corp companies, a company must go through an extensive investigation by B Lab, which measures the sustainable and social impact of the company in question. Too Good To Go has successfully completed the process in all fourteen countries in which it operates, thus proving that it meets strict criteria in terms of governance, employees, community, the environment and customers. Some of the best known B Corp companies are Patagonia and Ben & Jerry’s.
Too Good To Go is gratefully using the attention that the prestigious certificate is providing, to announce its expansion plans to the United States. In about six months’ time, the company plans to start up in New York and Boston and it has already launched a recruitment campaign to this end. These are the company’s first steps outside Europe: co-founder Lucie Basch will steer American expansion in the right direction, MarketingTribune writes.
Too Good To Go started in Denmark in 2015 and is now active in fourteen European countries. The app fights food waste by helping restaurants and shops to sell their surplus food for a reduced price, rather than throwing it away.
