Uber Eats is going to perform home deliveries for groceries from Carrefour in France. The company hopes to extend the cooperation to other countries, such as Belgium and Italy, on a later stage.

Starting next Monday, the carriers of Uber Eats will also deliver groceries at home. The delivery service has entered into a partnership with Carrefour for this purpose, reports Les Echos. The service is rolled out first in Paris, but the rest of France is soon to follow.
In the Uber Eats app, users can select their Carrefour store of choice and select products in the food, hygiene and cleaning categories. Heavy or bulky items cannot be ordered. Customers will then receive their groceries within 30 minutes. Normally there is a shipping cost of 3.5 euros, but Uber Eats will waive this during the enforced confinement due to the coronavirus.
Uber Eats hopes to set up the same cooperation in other countries where Carrefour is active, including Belgium. Both companies also emphasise this is a long-term project, and is not just linked to the coronavirus lockdowns.
