Unilever has acquired British Graze, a producer of healthy snacks that sells through retail, out-of-home and via e-commerce.
Multi-channel approach
Graze started in 2008 as a delivery service for healthy snack boxes and currently brings a wide range of healthy snacks to the market, including nuts, seeds and snack bars, all without artificial ingredients. The brand and its focus are exactly what Unilever is looking for to appeal to millennials, thanks to personalisation, convenience and excellent nutritional values.
Nitin Paranjpe, president of Unilever’s food and refreshment business, was rather pleased with the acquisition: ““Accelerating our presence in healthy foods and out of home this is an excellent strategic fit for the Unilever Food & Refreshment business, and a wonderful addition to our stable of purpose driven brands. We look forward to working with the graze team to grow the business, leveraging their tech and ecommerce expertise for our wider portfolio, and offering more consumers the opportunity to snack in a healthier way.”
The snack producer had been in the hands of American investment group Carlyle since 2012. Financial details about the deal were not disclosed.
