Unilever is to invest 8.5 million euro in the American meal box seller Sun Basket, alongside Baseline Ventures and Founders Circle Capital.
IPO
Sun Basket’s current investment round attracted 24.2 million dollars (22.3 million euro) already, bringing its total amount of investments to 52 million dollars (48 million euro).
According to several sources, Sun Basket is also preparing an IPO, something Bank of America and Jefferies Group are apparently investigating. The goal is to attract about 1 billion dollars (920 million euro) with an IPO.
The company’s distinguishing feature compared to the competition is that it targets customers with a very specific diet. It has gluten-free and vegetarian products and even people on a paleo diet could get their own meal boxes at Sun Basket.
