Victoria's Secret opens London shop just in time for Olympics

Food30 July, 2012

Just in time for millions of visitors

Earlier this month, Victoria’s secret had announced a delay for its two London store openings for undisclosed reasons. Last week however, the chain suddenly opened its first London store, in the Westfield Stratford City shopping centre, without too much ado.

The European flagship store of the chain should have opened in the London New Bond Street, but this opening seems to have been postponed to the autumn. The reason for the delay (and why this did not apply to the Olympic shop), remains unknown.

Missed the scoop

London missed the scoop of the first Victoria’s Secret shop in a European city centre by a whisker: Warsaw has taken that first, only days earlier. The chain does already have shops in Heathrow and Schiphol airport.

Westfield Stratford City is a brand new shopping mall of 175,000 m². Its opening fits into in the neighbourhood upgrading project for the Olympics. A lot of big names had already opened stores there, like Adidas, Esprit, H&M, Hollister, Lacoste, Primark, Superdry and Zara.
