Plenty of multinationals have used Luxembourg to avoid paying taxes and according to the Dutch newspaper Trouw, WE Fashion has done the same, ever since 1998 when its Luxembourgish company no longer had to pay any tax up until 2006.
When Europe forbade that particular system, WE Fashion’s founder created an intricate system with several subsidiaries to limit the amount it needed to pay. Although not illegal, it may be considered highly unethical.
